Hi Jeffrey. Thanks for your replies in the past. It’s almost as though I have a virtual chef friend. After coming up short on wise advice and overwhelmed by choices, I have a question regarding gas grills. I’ve researched a bit but would love your suggestions. I have recently discovered grills with infared heat but fear I may lose the entire point of a fire cooked meal since the heat is indirect. I have also considered the dual gas/charcoal grill but the quality of the gas piece is sacrificed in the grates and the burners. Which brings me to the next decision of grates; coated cast iron or stainless steel? Finally, do I just throw my hands up in the air and buy a Weber because it’s a Weber?
Hello Brian, It sounds like you have done your homework so I am guessing your decision will be the right one! I am all about gas grills for the convenience and because I already add a lot of flavor to the food. If you cook over charcoal I think you are looking for the flavor of the charcoal which I totally understand as well. I think the coated cast iron is the best because the density of the cast iron is what retains the heat and gives you a nice sear. enjoy! Best, Jeffrey Happy to be of help in any way I can!
